At Blackburn with Darwen Council, we co-ordinate the work of the Pennine Lancashire Community Safety Partnership on behalf of ourselves and partners across East Lancashire. From the policy decisions that we're making through the board, to projects and programmes we are delivering the keep residents and business safe it is vital that we put the needs of our communities first. We want to make sure crime and antisocial behaviour is not a factor that affects our communities ability to lead a great quality of life, and this role plays a vital part in achieving those goals.
The Role:
As a member of Blackburn with Darwen’s Community Safety team (based in Blackburn Town Hall, but with travel across East Lancashire), you will find a fantastically collaborative team spirit awaits you. Together, we deliver high-quality co-ordination and support to the whole sub region. The teams covers a full range of Community Safety activity to include; Prevent and Counter Extremism, Road Safety, Anti Social Behaviour, Domestic Abuse services and Housing Needs to name but a few. You will join a stable and well supported team which has a can do mentality. The team has strong links with partners across the region to include the constabulary, fire service, probation and district councils. We are looking for an individual with energy and enthusiasm to support the team to deliver a high-quality support offer to the board and its partners, whilst continuing to develop innovative policy and respond to change and new challenges.
As you handle your own complex and challenging programme, you will effectively manage risks, plan and help co-ordinate interventions to deliver on our strategic aims and objectives. Leadership is a key part of your work, too. That means being a crucial source of support to colleagues, modelling expert practice and providing guidance where needed. Beyond this, you will represent the team and the partnership at departmental and inter-agency meetings, contribute to our quality assurance and ground up initiatives and help us innovate through your own research.
This role requires, political awareness, sensitivity and interpersonal skills, as it involves working closely with many organisations and institutions. You will therefore need three years post-qualification experience in a community safety, criminal justice, social care or similar background. Together with this, you should have a good understanding of community safety and or criminal justice legislation.
